236. Man of Sorrows

1 Man of Sorrows kneeling down
‘Neath the Father’s awful frown,
Hear Him pray, “Thy will be done,”
In Gethsemane alone.

Refrain:
Man of Sorrows bore my blame,
Man of Sorrows took my shame,
Wonderful Savior, Thy love for me
Has saved me, and set me free.

2 Man of Sorrows with the cross,
Bearing all its shame and loss,
See Him stagger, faint and fall,
‘Neath the curse He bore for all. [Refrain]

3 Man of Sorrows on a tree,
Hanging there in agony,
“It is finished!” now He cries,
As He bows His head and dies. [Refrain]

4 Man of Sorrows rose again,
“Victor o’er the dark domain;
King of Glory! lives on high,
He is coming by and by. [Refrain]
