1 Like the eagle, upward, onward,
Let my soul in faith be borne:
calmly gazing skyward, sunward,
Let my eye unshrinking turn.

2 When the Truth, God's love revealing,
Sets the fettered spirit free,
Where it sheds its wondrous healing,
There, my Soul, thy rest shall be.

3 O may I no longer, dreaming,
Idly waste my golden day,
But each precious hour redeeming,
Upward, upward, press my way.
