1 Still onward and upward our watchword shall be:
Tho' trouble and sorrow our lot may be,
And trial before us may gloomily rise,
Yet still we will pass them with hopeful eyes.
The sorrows of childhood, the tear in its eye,
Is but as a dewdrop that sunbeams will dry.
And roses of beauty lie bright on the road,
That lead the young spirit to trust its God.

2 And as we go onward, we'll join in the song
That float in its beauty the air along,
When long years have crowned us, remembrance shall gaze
With joy on our trusting and childhood days.
The sorrows of childhood, the tear in its eye,
Is but as a dewdrop that sunbeams will dry.
For God is our Father, His mercy is true,
His bounty each morning and eve is new.
