353. The Peace of God

1 ‘Tis good to have the peace of God
To keep and guard the heart;
‘Tis best to have the God of peace,
To dwell with Him apart.

Refrain:
A bright and blessed hope is ours,
To cheer us on our way;
But ever now the God of hope
Is with us all the day.

2 ‘Tis sweet to know the love of God
Doth for our need provide;
But best to feel the God of love
I sever at our side. [Refrain]

3 ‘Tis good to taste and grace of God,
Which brings salvation near,
But oh! to know the God of grace
Is with us even here. [Refrain]

4 It is Himself, and not His gifts
That are so passing sweet;
The secret of all blessedness
Is found at His dear feet. [Refrain]
