56. Angels, Get My Mansion Ready

1 Over yonder stands the mansion Christ prepared for me,
God ordained that I should have it from eternity;
And I’ll send a pray’r before me, ere I cross the foam,
“Angels, get my mansion ready, I am coming home.”

Refrain:
I am coming home to heaven, with the angels there to dwell,
I am coming home to glory, where I’ll never say farewell;
I am coming to that city, nevermore to roam,
Angels, get my mansion ready, I am coming home.

2 Purer are the joys up yonder than the halls of mirth,
Grander are the songs eternal than the songs of earth;
Sweeter is the bread of heaven than the honey comb,
Angels, get my mansion ready, I am coming home. [Refrain]

3 Tho’ a pilgrim I have wandered in the valley here,
Now unto the blessed homeland I am drawing near;
Soon amid these scenes of sorrow I will cease to roam,
Angels, get my mansion ready, I am coming home. [Refrain]

4 When my work below is ended and my race is run,
I will hear my Saviour calling at the set of sun;
Then I’ll send a message upward, past yon vaulted dome,
“Angels, get my mansion ready, I am coming home.” [Refrain]
