216. I Do Not Ask

1 All is dark,
I cannot see my way,
God grant that night may soon be turned to day.
Reach out Thy hand, O Christ of Galilee,
In loving kindness O remember me.

Refrain:
I do not ask Thy face to see,
Not here, not now such bliss may come to me;
But this I know some day the veil shall fall,
And I’ll see Jesus, Jesus my all in all.

2 Night is on,
The sun has hid its face;
Beam on my way the sunlight of Thy grace
Nor let me fall, nor turn from Thee aside;
O loving Comrade, still with me abide. [Refrain]

3 Gracious One,
I feel my hand in Thine,
Let come what may Thy love I know is mine.
Unworthy I to touch Thy “seamless dress”
I kneel before Thee; now Thy foll’wer bless. [Refrain]
