Text: | O Lord Send the Fire |
Author: | Rev. Johnson Oatman, Jr. |
Tune: | [For perfect heart-cleansing] |
Composer: | Wm. J. Kirkpatrick |
1 For perfect heart-cleansing
We are praying today,
While all our possessions
On the altar we lay.
To rise in thine image,
Dear Lord, we aspire,
While thy people are waiting,
O Lord send the fire.
Refrain:
O Lord send the fire,
Send the purifying fire;
While we’re waiting and praying,
O Lord send the fire.
2 Too long we have wandered
In the mire and the clay,
When thou hast provided
Such a blessed highway.
We’re tired of the valley,
We want to get high’r,
Then our dross all consuming,
O Lord send the fire. [Refrain]
3 Dear Lord we surrender
Everything unto thee,
O seal us, dear Father,
Thine forever to be.
By faith we approach thee,
Just now draw us nigh’r;
To burn up all between us,
O Lord send the fire. [Refrain]
