98. In the Morning

1 When the day of life is ended,
And the sun turns to gold,
We shall sleep from all our toil and care;
But when morning breaks eternal,
And its glories unfold,
WE shall waken all its joys to share.

Refrain:
How the music of that new and never ending song
Will echo and re-echo,
When the ransomed of the Lord arise—a countless throng—
And are gathered on the hills of God.

2 That will be a glorious morning—
Never changing to noon,
Neither shall there follow any night;
There the day is never ending,
And there’s no silver moon,
For the Lamb of God is Life and Light. [Refrain]

3 We shall meet and know each other,
In that homeland so fair,
Where the years in peace eternal roll;
Pain and sorrow cannot enter,
And no parting is there,
For no sin can ever reach the soul. [Refrain]

4 What a glorious resurrection,
When we stand face to face
With our Lord who died on Calvary!
There will all the saints and martyrs—
Thro’ His wonderful grace—
We shall praise Him thro’ eternity. [Refrain]
