368. Brother, thou hast left us lonely

1 Brother, thou hast left us lonely,
Sorrow fills our hearts today;
But beyond this vale of sorrow
Tears will all be wiped away.

2 Brother, thou art sweetly resting,
Cold may be this earthly tomb,
But the angels sweetly whispered,
“Come and live with us at home.”

3 Brother, thou art sweetly rest
On the lovely Savior’s breast,
Where the wicked cease from troubling,
And the weary are at rest.

4 Brother, thou art sweetly resting,
Here thy toils and pains are o’er;
Pain and sickness, death and sorrow,
Never can distress thee more.
