Tune: | CONDITOR ALME SIDERUM |
Arranger: | Bruce Neswick, 1956- |
1 Creator of the stars of night,
your people’s everlasting light,
O Christ, the Saviour of us all,
we pray, oh hear us when we call.
2 To you the labour pain was known
that made the whole creation groan,
until the time that you would free
your own in glorious liberty.
3 Old was the world that drew toward night;
you came, but not in splendour bright
as monarch, but the humble child
of Mary, faithful mother mild.
4 At your great name, Christ Jesus, now
all knees must bend; all hearts must bow;
all things on earth with one accord
join those in heaven your name shall bless.
5 Come in your holy might, we pray;
redeem us for eternal day,
when all your judgements will be known
and power of darkness overthrown.
6 To God the Father, God the Son
and God the Spirit, Three-in-One,
laud, honour, might and glory be
from age to age eternally.
Amen.
