37. Father, We Thank Thee

Our Father in heaven, we thank Thee
That Thou hast recorded Thy word,
Thy truth everlasting, eternal,
For this do we thank Thee, O Lord;
We thank Thee for Jesus, our Savior,
Who came all our sorrows to heal;
The Fount on Mount Calvary flowing,
Thine infinite love to reveal.

We thank Thee for grace and for mercy,
When we were astray from Thy fold,
That Thou thro’ the Christ hath redeemed us,
And built us a city of gold;
We thank Thee for all the rich blessings
Bestowed upon us in our need;
We thank Thee for light in the darkness,
Our wandering footsteps to lead.

We thank Thee when burdened with sorrows,
That Jesus our troubles doth know,
Since He who has brightest of heaven
Hath labored and suffered below;
Our noblest and best we would give Thee,
Our homage and service of love;
Till Jesus shall make up His jewels,
Till loved ones are gathers above.
