Text: | The Comforter has come |
Author: | Anon. |
1 The Comforter has come,
We feel his presence here;
Our hearts would now no longer roam,
But bow in filial fear.
2 This tenderness of love,
This hush of solemn power,--
'Tis heaven descending from above,
To fill this favored hour.
3 Earth's darkness all has fled,
Heaven's light serenely shines,
And every heart, divinely led,
To holy thought inclines.
4 No more let sin deceive,
Nor earthly cares betray,
Oh, let us never, never grieve
The Comforter away!
