2. John III. 16

1 In all the gospel of God’s grace,
Is there a word more sweet
Than that, with glad and holy joy,
In chorus we repeat?

Refrain:
For God so loved the world that He gave His Son,
His only begotten Son,
That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, should not perish,
But have everlasting life,
Everlasting life.

2 Why should we ever harbor doubt,
Or shrink in trembling fear,
Why rather not in confidence
The Throne of Grace draw near? [Refrain]

3 How can we any longer live
In former ways of sin,
When heav’nly pow’r is ours, to make
And keep us pure within? [Refrain]

4 Where is the soul of vision large
Who loves the human race?
Let him proclaim where’er he goes
This message of free grace. [Refrain]
