Lynn Bauman is director of the Praxis Retreat and Learning Center in northeast Texas. He completed a B.A. in Biblical Studies and began graduate studies in Near Eastern studies at UCLA. He is an author and partner in publishing materials for spiritual formation and contemplative living. His book Ancient Songs Sung Anew: the Psalms as poetry is the source of many of his hymns. He is also taught comparative religion, ascetical theology, spirituality and hermeneutics. He is abbot in The Oriental Orthodox Order int he West" an order devoted to a path of contemplative wisdom. In addition, he has translated many important Coptic texts, including The Gospel of Thomas.
