Son of hymnist Nils Frykman, Andrew was educated at North Park College and Theological Seminary, Chicago, Illinois, and Montana Wesleyan University. He served as president of Northwestern College, Minneapolis, Minnesota (1901-04), then at Mission Covenant churches in Superior, Wisconsin; Jamestown, New York; Wausa, Nebraska; and Rockford, Illinois. In Rockford, he founded the first radio station in the city. In the last years of his career, Frykman served as the Covenant director of evangelism, retiring in 1943.
