Holmes, John. (Somerville, Massachusetts, January 6, 1904--1962). He took the degree of B.S. at Tufts College in 1929, and the next year was a student at Harvard. Since then he has taught at Tufts University, rising to the rank of Associate Professor of English. Author of numerous articles and books. For the 125th anniversary of the American Unitarian Association on May 23-24, 1950, he wrote a hymn in three stanzas, 7.6.7.6.D., beginning "O Lord of stars and sunlight."
