Jamouneau came from a Huguenot line from the Poitou region of France. In 1897, he married Eva Mawer in Louth, Lincolnshire; at the time, he was listed as a Professor of Music in Kingston upon Hull. Jamouneau established himself as a publisher and composer, putting out over 150 works, from hymns to a full opera.
