Marjorie Jillson was born in 1931 in Detroit and graduated from the College of Wooster, Ohio (B.A. in Religion, 1953). She was employed in various secretarial positions by the U.S. Government, Washington, D.C. She returned to Detroit and worked as a dental secretary (1973-1980) until she became ill. A member of Grosse Point Memorial Presbyterian Church, Jillson wrote the texts for Three Simple Melodies (1972) and Five Hymns (1973). The music for both collections was composed by Zimmermann.
