York, Charles Edward, M.A., b. in 1842, Chaplain Royal Marine Light Infantry; educated at Pembroke College, Oxford (B.A. 1864), and for sometime Chaplain in the Royal Navy, is the author of "As near the wish'd-for port we draw" (For Use at Sea), in the 1889 Supplemental Hymns to Hymns Ancient & Modern.
