Chatfield Meter: 6.6.8.6 Appears in 134 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 119:133 Lyrics: 1 Lord Jesus, think on me And purge away my sin; From earth-born passions set me free And make me pure within. 2 Lord Jesus, think on me, With many a care opprest; Let me Thy loving servant be And taste Thy promised rest. 3 Lord Jesus, think on me Amid the battle's strife; In all my pain and misery Be Thou my Health and Life. 4 Lord Jesus, think on me Nor let me go astray; Through darkness and perplexity Point Thou the heavenly way. 5 Lord Jesus, think on me When floods the tempest high; When on doth rush the enemy, O Savior, be Thou nigh! 6 Lord Jesus, think on me That, when the flood is past, I may th'eternal brightness see And share Thy joy at last. 7 Lord Jesus, think on me That I may sing above To Father, Spirit, and to Thee The strains of praise and love. Psalm 119 Part 7

Author: Isaac Watts Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 133 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 119 First Line: Let all the heathen writers join Lyrics: Let all the heathen writers join To form one perfect book; Great God! if once compared with thine, How mean their writings look! Not the most perfect rules they gave Could show one sin forgiv'n, Nor lead a step beyond the grave; But thine conduct to heav'n. I've seen an end to what we call Perfection here below; How short the powers of nature fall, And can no further go! Yet men would fain be just with God By works their hands have wrought; But thy commands, exceeding broad, Extend to every thought. In vain we boast perfection here, While sin defiles our frame, And sinks our virtues down so far, They scarce deserve the name. Our faith, and love, and every grace, Fall far below thy word; But perfect truth and righteousness Dwell only with the Lord. Topics: Nature and Scripture; Scripture compared with the book of nature; Instruction from Scripture; Scripture perfection
