William Beery

1852 - 1956 Composer of "[When Jesus left His Father's throne]" in Glad Songs William Beery was born April 8, 1852, near Bremen OH and he lived for nearly 104 years. He attended Juniata College, where he later taught vocal music. He also conducted music institutes and singing classes. Beery was married in 1888 to Adaline Hohf, who often wrote poems that he set to music. In 1910 they moved to Elgin IL where both were employed by the Brethren Publishing House. His music has also been included in several Brethren hymnals. NN, Hymnary editor.
