Author: Philip Doddridge; John Logan Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 392 hymnals Lyrics: 1 O God of Bethel, by whose hand
Thy people still are fed,
Who through this weary pilgrimage
Hast all our fathers led.
2 Our vows, our pray'rs, we now present
Before thy Throne of grace;
God of our fathers, be the God
Of their succeeding race.
3 Through each perplexing path of life
Our wand'ring footsteps guide;
Give us each day our daily bread,
And raiment fit provide.
4 O spread thy cov'ring wings around
Till all our wand'rings cease
And at our Father's loved abode
Our souls arrive in peace.
5 Such blessings from thy gracious hand
Our humble pray'rs implore;
And thou shalt be our chosen God,
And portion evermore.
Amen. Topics: Christian Life Pilgrimage and Guidance; Ministry Ordination; Supplication For Guidance; Vows; Zeal Scripture: Genesis 28:15 Used With Tune: GREEN HILL Text Sources: St. 5 added in Scottish Paraphrases, 1781
