Phoebe Palmer Knapp

1839 - 1908 Scripture: Isaiah 1:16-19 Author of "Por fe contemplo redención" in Celebremos Su Gloria As a young girl Phoebe Palmer Knapp (b. New York, NY, 1839; d. Poland Springs, ME, 1908) displayed great musical talent; she composed and sang children’s song at an early age. The daughter of the Methodist evangelist Walter C. Palmer, she was married to John Fairfield Knapp at the age of sixteen. Her husband was a founder of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and after his death, she shared her considerable inherited wealth with various charitable organizations. She composed over five hundred gospel songs, of which the tunes for “Blessed Assurance” and “Open the Gates of the Temple” are still popular today. Bert Polman

1839 - 1904 Person Name: fr. Scholefield Scripture: Isaiah 1:18 Arranger of "IRENE" in Laudes Domini Rev. Clement C. Scholefield (b. Edgbaston, near Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, 1839; d. Goldalming, Surrey, England, 1904) Educated at St. John's College, Cambridge, he was ordained in the Church of England in 1867. He served at Hove, Brighton, St. Peter's in Kensington (1869-1879), and briefly at St. Luke's in Chelsea. From 1880 to 1890 he was chaplain at Eton College and from 1890 to 1895 vicar of Holy Trinity in Knightsbridge. Mainly self-taught as a musician, Scholefield became an accomplished pianist and composed some songs and hymn tunes. Bert Polman

Paul Beckwith

1905 - 1975 Scripture: Isaiah 1:18 Arranger of "FÜRCHTE DICH NICHT" in Trinity Hymnal (Rev. ed.) Paul Beckwith was pianist for about ten years with Billy Sunday and Mel Trotter. He then attended Dallas Theological Seminary. In 1943 he started as a staff worker for Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. He conducted evangelistic services in churches and later trained students. In 1970 he taught hymnology at Southeastern Bible College while serving as an associate staff member for Inter-Varsity.He edited several hymnals for Inter-Varsity. Gloria Gaither

b. 1942 Scripture: Isaiah 1:16 Author of "The Family of God" in Hymns of Faith Gloria Gaither (born March 4, 1942) is a Christian songwriter, author, speaker, editor, and academic. She is the wife of Bill Gaither and also sang in the Bill Gaither Trio, one of the most influential groups in recent Christian music. She was born Gloria Lee Sickal in 1942 in Michigan, a daughter of pastor Lee Sickal and Dorothy Sickal. She spent most of her childhood and high school career in the Battle Creek area of Michigan, working a brief time for the Kellogg Company. When Sickal graduated from high school, she attended Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. There, she triple majored in English, French, and Sociology. Upon her graduation, she took a job at Alexandria Monroe High School as a French teacher. There, she met Bill Gaither, who was teaching English at the time. She married Gaither in 1962, and they began writing songs recreationally. By the end of the 1960s, Gloria, Bill, and his brother Danny Gaither were touring steadily, as the Bill Gaither Trio. After touring with the Bill Gaither Trio, Gaither drew her focus to the Gaither Homecoming series. She has been an active presence in every video production. Gaither is currently the scriptwriter and narrator for the Homecoming series. In 1991, she attended Ball State University and received a Master of Arts in Literature. She taught as an adjunct professor at Anderson University for periods in the late 80s and late 90s. In 1996, she spearheaded the creation of Gaither Family Reources in Alexandria, Indiana, and currently serves as co-owner and managing director. In 2002, Gaither launched Homecoming:
