In 1900 they were in New Haven, Connecticut, and had been there since at least 1896. By 1910 they were in Brooklyn, New York, and in 1920 they were in Morris County, New York. Hannan served as pastor of the Bushwick Avenue Central Methodist Episcopal Church, Brooklyn, New York, for eight years. As of 1923, he was professor of pastoral theology at Drew Theological Seminary, Madison, New Jersey.
