Teach me, O teach me, Lord, Thy way

Author: James Merrick Hymnal: Church Book #468 (1890) Meter: 8.8.8.8 Scripture: Psalm 119 Lyrics: 1 Teach me, O teach me, Lord, Thy way; That, to my life's remotest day, By thine unerring precepts led, My feet Thy heavenly paths may tread. 2 Informed by Thee, with sacred awe My heart shall meditate Thy law; And, with celestial wisdom filled, To Thee its full obedience yield. 3 Give me to know Thy will aright, Thy will, my glory and delight; That, raised above the world, my mind In Thee its highest good may find. 4 O turn from vanity my eye; To me Thy quickening strength supply; And with Thy promised mercy cheer A heart devoted to Thy fear. Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: Psalms and Hymns of Isaac Watts, The #Ps.275 (1806) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Scripture: Psalm 119 First Line: My God, consider my distress Lyrics: My God, consider my distress, Let mercy plead my cause; Though I have sinned against thy grace, I can't forget thy laws. Forbid, forbid the sharp reproach Which I so justly fear; Uphold my life, uphold my hopes, Not let my shame appear. Be thou a surety, Lord, for me, Nor let the proud oppress; But make thy waiting servant see The shinings of thy face. My eyes with expectation fail, My heart within me cries, "When will the Lord his truth fulfil, And make my comforts rise?" Look down upon my sorrows, Lord, And show thy grace the same As thou art ever wont t' afford To those that love thy name. Topics: Comfort holiness, and pardon; Desire of comfort and deliverance Languages: English
