Tomorrow Christ is coming

Author: Fred Kaan, 1929- Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Appears in 7 hymnals Scripture: John 12:24 Lyrics: 1 Tomorrow Christ is coming, as yesterday he came; a child is born this moment; we do not know its name. The world is full of darkness: again there is no room; the symbols of existence are stable, cross and tomb. 2 Tomorrow will be Christmas, the feast of love divine, but, for the nameless millions, the star will never shine. Still is the census taken, with people on the move; new infants born in stables are crying out for love. 3 There will be no tomorrows for many a baby born; Good Friday falls on Christmas when life is sown as corn, but Jesus Christ is risen and comes again in bread to still our deepest hunger and raise us from the dead. 4 Our Lord becomes incarnate in every human birth. Created in God's image, we must make peace on earth. God will fulfil love's purpose, and this shall be the sign: we shall find Christ among us as woman, child or man. Topics: Church Year Advent; Lament; Peace; Social Concerns / Social Justice; Suffering Used With Tune: LITTLE BADDOW

Refrain: I love to serve my Jesus, He’s all in all to me; He helps me bear each burden, He is my victory. 2 I love to serve my Jesus, the world I do give up, I’ll drink with my dear Savior from that bitter, bitter cup; I know that if I suffer with Him I, too, shall reign In life and up in glory bright—sweet promise sure I claim. [Refrain] 3 I love to serve my Jesus, and lean upon His arm In health or in affliction, in the calm or in the storm; In darkness, clouds, or sunshine, in heat or in the cold, In poverty or riches, I have peace and joy untold. The gentle Shepherd here behold, Slain for the sheep lost to His fold: From labor, pain, and weeping Now rests He with the sleeping. 2 But not for aye, O Friend of men, Thou in the grave descendest; A little while, and then again Thy grieving flock Thou tendest. The corn that falls into the earth From darkness springs in fullness forth, In season amply giving The life-bread to the living. 3 O Prince of Life, now to the gloom Of earth consigned in sorrow, My life so guide, that in my tomb I wait the blessèd morrow. Throughout These Lenten Days and Nights

Author: James Gertmenian, b. 1947 Meter: 8.8.8.8 Appears in 5 hymnals Scripture: John 12:24 First Line: Thoughout these Lenten days and nights Lyrics: 1 Throughout these Lenten days and nights we turn to walk the inward way, where, meeting Christ, our guide and light, we live in hope till Easter day. 2 The pilgrim Christ, the Lamb of God, who found in weakness greater power, embraces us, though lost and flawed, and leads us to his rising hour. 3 We bear the silence, cross, and pain of human burdens, human strife, while sisters, brothers help sustain our courage till the feast of life. 4 And though the road is hard and steep, the Spirit ever calls us on through Calvary’s dying, dark and deep, until we see the coming dawn. 5 So let us choose the path of one who wore, for us, the crown of thorn, and slept in death, that we might wake to life on Resurrection Morn! 6 Rejoice, O sons and daughters! Sing and shout hosannas! Raise the strain! For Christ, whose death Good Friday brings, on Easter day will live again! Topics: Church Year Lent Used With Tune: TALLIS CANON
