Under the Shadow of Thy Wing

Author: Mrs. Gustavus Remak Appears in 2 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 91:1 First Line: “Under the shadow of thy wing” Refrain First Line: He that dwelleth in the secret place Lyrics: 1 “Under the shadow of thy wing” Dear Saviour, let me hide, From sin’s fierce storm and sorrow’s sting There safely I’ll abide, Let not earth’s fleeting dreams of joy, Or pleasure’s Syren song, My soul from virtue’s path decoy, To selfishness and wrong. Refrain: He that dwelleth in the secret place, In the secret place of the most high, Shall abide under the shadow, Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 “Under the shadow of thy wing” My spirit shall rejoice, From thence my help and strength I bring And there I hear thy voice; Oh! may I hear the voice divine! Whisper, “Come unto me” Thou weary, heavy-laden one, “My peace I’ll give to thee.” [Refrain] 3 Oh! give “thine angels charge o’er me” “In all thy ways to keep” My heart—that often strays from thee Thro’ danger dark and deep— Wanders, alas! till wearily I weeping turn aside, Unto thine arms of mercy flee And in thy shadow hide. [Refrain] 4 “Under the shadow of thy wing” I shall not be afraid, Of plague—or evil—there I’ll sing— “The Lord! my strength is made,” He is my Rock and Hiding-place, My God! My King! My Friend! In Him, I’ll trust—he’ll give me grace, And keep me to the end. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [“Under the shadow of thy wing”]

O Blessed Is the Man Who Stays

Author: Johan Olof Wallin; Ernest Edwin Ryden Meter: 8.7.8.7.8.7.8.7.4.8 Appears in 2 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 91 Lyrics: 1 O blessed is the man who stays His trust in God forever; He dwells within the secret place Where foes may enter never. God is my Refuge and my Stay, My God who e'er directs me. In dangers, fears, and plagues that slay, His wings shall still protect me. I will not fear When God, my Shield, is ever near. 2 Though thousands at my side may fall, Ten thousand near me stumble, On Thee, my Saviour, will I call, Thou carest for the humble. I will not fear the arrow's flight, Nor yet the dark night's terror: Thy saints are precious in Thy sight, Thou keepest them from error, For Thou hast sent Thine angels bright to guard my tent. 3 "He loveth Me," thus saith the Lord, "Therefore will I uphold him; Because he waits upon My Word, With love will I enfold him. His enemies shall rage in vain, No evil shall come near him; His prayers with Me acceptance gain, Before he calls, I'll hear him. His days I'll bless With joy, and peace, and righteousness." Amen. Topics: Way of Salvation Sanctification; Faith and Trust Used With Tune: SÄLL DU, SOM DIG ÅT GUD BETROR
