O Mighty God Of Earth And Heaven

Author: Paul E. Kretzmann Meter: 9.10.9.10.10.10 Appears in 1 hymnal Lyrics: 1 O mighty God of earth and heaven, Whose praises are thro' endless ages sung, The saints, to whom Thy grace is given, Their voices raise the heav'nly choir among, In music far surpassing human thought, To praise salvation which Thy Son has wrought. 2 But we, who in this vale of sorrow Our way as pilgrims far from home pursue, Look forward to a bright tomorrow, When we shall see both earth and heaven new, There we shall meet our Savior face to face And ever magnify His boundless grace. 3 This lends us joy in fullest measure, While we as strangers here below must roam; Our hearts are all aglow with pleasure As we look forward to that blissful home; But still our spirit ever longs and sighs To dwell with Jesus under fairer skies. 4 What here is quite beyond our telling, And we behold but darkly through a glass, The fondest hopes within us dwelling Will there in fullest beauty come to pass. O Savior, come and take us all to Thee, That we our precious hopes fulfilled may see. Topics: The Means of Grace God Used With Tune: CRASSELIUS

Wake, Spirit, who in times now olden

Author: Carl Heinrich von Bogatzky; Catherine Winkworth Appears in 38 hymnals Lyrics: 1 Wake, Spirit, who in times now olden Didst fire the watchmen of the Church's youth, And them 'gainst ev'ry foe embolden, To witness day and night th'eternal truth, Whose voices through the world are ringing still, And bringing hosts to know and do Thy will: 2 Soon may that fire from heaven be lent us, That swift from land to land its flame may leap! Soon, Lord, that priceless boon be sent us Of faithful servants, fit for Thee to reap The harvest of the soul,--look down and view How great the harvest, but the laborers few. 3 Lord, to our earnest prayer now hearken, The prayer we offer at Thy Son's command; For, lo! while storms around us darken, Thy children's hearts are stirr'd in every land, To cry for help, with fervent soul, to Thee; O hear us, Lord, and speak: "Thus let it be!" 4 O speedily that help be granted! Send forth evangelists, in spirit strong, Armed with Thy Word, a host undaunted, Bold to attack the rule of ancient wrong, And let them all the earth for Thee reclaim, To be Thy kingdom and to know Thy name! 5 Grant that for which Thy people calleth! Send down Thy promised Spirit, Lord, in might, Before whom every barrier falleth, And let it thus at evening-time be light; O! rend the heavens, and make Thy presence felt, The chains that bind us at Thy touch would melt. 6 Let Zion's paths lie waste no longer, Remove the hindrances that there have lain, And let Thy Word go forth to conquer; Destroy false doctrine, root out notions vain, Set free from hirelings, let the Church and school Bloom as a garden 'neath Thy prospering rule Topics: The Catechism The Church; Eighth Sunday after Trinity Used With Tune: CRASSELIUS (Dir, dir, Jehovah, will ich singen)

O Panie, Tobie chcę zaśpiewać

Author: ks. Bartholomäus Crasselius Appears in 1 hymnal Lyrics: 1 O Panie,Tobie chcę zaśpiewać. Bo gdzież jest inny, równy Tobie Bóg? pieśniami pragnę Ciebie wzywać. Dopomóż sam wdzięczności spłacić dług. Daj, bym w imieniu Syna Ciebie czcił i przezeń zawsze Ci przyjemny był. 2 Wiedź, Ojcze, mnie do swego Syna, by Syn do Ciebie mnie prowadził znów. Niech Duch Twój dzieło swe poczyna. Niech będzie rządcą czynów, myśli, słów, bym w sercu swoim pokój Twój wciąż czuł i za to wdzięczne pieśni Tobie snuł. 3 Najwyższy Panie, z łaski swojej zdarz, by śpiewanie to udało się. On w wiernych moich modłach woła, On mi poświadcza, żem dziecięciem Twym, że Chrystus swe dziedzictwo chce mi dać i że mi wolno Ciebie Ojcem zwać. 5 Gdy modlę się z natchnienia Ducha, to moje prośby po Twej myśli są. Twa łaska pewnie je wysłucha, bo Syn Twój wesprze je też prośbą swą. W Nim Twe dziedzictwo i dziecięctwo mam, bo On chce łaskę dać za łaską nam. 6 Szczęśliwym więc, że nieba bramę, otwiera mej modlitwie sam Twój Syn. On na me prośby powie: Amen— przed Ojcem wspiera mnie gładziciel win. Po wieczny czas Ci śpiewać chcę i grać, żeś raczył radość mi tak wielką dać. Topics: Wiara, milość, nadzieja Chwała, dziękczynienie i modlitwa Used With Tune: DIR, DIR O HÖCHSTER, WILL ICH SINGEN
