How beautiful the feet that bring

Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 6 hymnals Topics: Offices of the Church The Consecration of Bishops Lyrics: 1 How beautiful the feet that bring The gladsome tidings here! What gracious messengers e'en now To our blest eyes appear! These are the stars which God appoints For guides unto our way, To lead to the true Bethlehem, Where Christ is found alway. 2 these are our God's ambassadors, By whom His mind we know; God's angels in His nether heaven; His heralds here below! Sprinkled by them, the souls arise That did in Adam die, And, fed by them with bread from heaven, Were train'd for rest on high. 3 Thy servants speak; Thou only dost The hearing ear bestow: They smite the rock, but Thou alone Dost bid the waters flow. They seek, but only Thou hast skill To bring the wanderers home: They call, but Thy love must compel, And then the invited come. 4 Lord, Thou art in them of a truth, Lest we should go astray: The twelve bright banners march before, And show us Canaan's way. Bless we Thy Name Who granst us here To sing in Sion's ways, And then on heavenly Sion's hill, To sing eternal praise.

Hark, the voice of Jesus calling

Author: Dr. D. March, 1816- Appears in 514 hymnals Topics: Consecration Of Self; Call To Service; The Church and the Kingdom of God Social Service; Decision Call to ; Self-Dedication ; Service Of Christ; Master's Call Lyrics: 1 Hark, the voice of Jesus calling, "Who will go and work to-day? Fields are white, and harvests waiting, Who will bear the sheaves away?" Loud and long the Master calleth, Rich reward He offers free; Who will answer, gladly saying, "Here am I, O Lord, send me"? 2 If you cannot cross the ocean, And the heathen lands explore, You can find the heathen nearer, You can help them at your door; If you cannot give your thousands, You can give the widow's mite, And the least you give for Jesus Will be precious in His sight. 3 If you cannot be the watchman Standing high on Zion's wall, Pointing out the path to heaven, Offering life and peace to all, With your prayers and with your bounties You can do what Heaven demands; You can be like faithful Aaron Holding up the prophet's hands. 4 Let none hear you idly saying, "There is nothing I can do," While the souls of men are dying, And the Master calls for you; Take the task He gives you gladly; Let His work your pleasure be; Answer quickly when He calleth, "Here am I, O Lord, send me." Publish glad tidings, tidings of peace

Author: Mrs. Mary A. Thomson, 1834 Appears in 465 hymnals Topics: The Church and the Kingdom of God Missions; Consecration To Ministry; Ministry Consecration to ; Missions (See also Kingdom of Christ) First Line: O Zion, haste, thy mission high fulfilling Lyrics: 1 O Zion, haste, thy mission high fulfilling, To tell to all the world that God is Light; That He who made all nations is not willing One soul should perish, lost in shades of night: Refrain: Publish glad tidings, tidings of peace, Tidings of Jesus, redemption and release. 2 Behold, how many thousands still are lying Bound in the darksome prison-house of sin, With none to tell them of the Saviour's dying, Or of the life He died for them to win. [Refrain] 3 'Tis thine to save, from peril of perdition, The souls for whom the Lord His life laid down; Beware lest, slothful to fulfil thy mission, Thou lose one jewel that should deck His crown. [Refrain] 4 Proclaim to every people, tongue, and nation That God, in whom they live and move, is Love: Tell how He stooped to save His lost creation, And died on earth that man might live above. [Refrain] 5 Give of thy sons to bear the message glorious, Give of thy wealth to speed them on their way, Pour out thy soul for them in prayer victorious And haste the coming of the glorious day. [Refrain] 6 He comes again O Zion, ere thou meet Him, Make known to every heart His saving grace; Let none whom He hath ransomed fail to greet Him, Through thy neglect, unfit to see His face. [Refrain] Amen. Used With Tune: ANGELIC SONGS

Thy Temple is not made with hands

Author: C. F. Alexander Meter: 8.8.8.8 Appears in 9 hymnals Topics: Consecration of Churches Lyrics: 1 Thy Temple is not made with hands, 'Tis lit by many a golden star; The purple height of mountain lands Its everlasting pillars are. 2 Thee, highest heaven cannot contain, Great Lord of earth, and sky, and sea! Yet enter in, and bless the fane Adoring hands have reared for Thee. [3* Unworthy gifts and touched with fears, And memories of our loved at rest; Draw nigh, O Lord, and dry our tears, And be Thy presence here confest.] 4 For welcome to the babe new-born, For strengthening hands on bended head, For blessings on the marriage morn, And sweet words whispered o'er the dead; 5 For food divine to souls sufficed, For words that warn, for prayers that press, Arise and enter in, O Christ! And with Thy presence all things bless. 6 So praise to Thy great Name shall rise Up from these walls, this sacred floor, Who made, Who saves, Who sanctifies, Forever and for evermore. Amen. * To be used of a memorial church Used With Tune: GERMANY

And by what lives do they show they dwell on your holy hill? 2 They lead an incorrupt life and do the thing that is right. They speak the truth from their heart and use not their tongue for harm. 3 They do no wrong to their friends and will not slander their name. They scorn the one who is false but love those who fear the LORD. 4 They stand by what they have vowed, although it be to their hurt. They do not sin with their wealth and will not be swayed with bribes. 5 Now these are they who may dwell within the courts of the LORD. Their lives shall never be moved; they stand in their God, secure. Scripture: Psalm 15 Used With Tune: STELLA CARMEL
