All Beautiful the March of Days

Author: Frances Whitmarsh Wile (1878-1939) Hymnal: Common Praise (1998) #427 (1998) Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 All beautiful the march of days, as seasons come and go; the hand that shaped the rose hath wrought the crystal of the snow, hath sent the hoary frost of heaven, the flowing waters sealed, and laid a silent loveliness on hill and wood and field. 2 O’er white expanses, sparkling pure , the radiant morns unfold; the solemn splendours of the night burn brighter through the cold; life mounts in every throbbing vein, love deepens round the hearth, and clearer sounds the angel hymn, "Good will and peace on earth." 3 O thou, from whose unfathomed law the year in beauty flows, thyself the vision passing by in crystal and in rose, day unto day doth utter speech, and night to night proclaim in ever-changing words of light the wonder of thy name. The Wise May Bring Their Learning

Hymnal: Hymns for a Pilgrim People #444 (2007) Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Lyrics: 1 The wise may bring their learning, The rich may bring their wealth, And some may bring their brilliance, And some bring strength and health; We too, would bring our treasures To offer to the King; We have no gifts deserving: What shall we children bring? 2 We'll bring Him hearts that love Him; We'll bring Him thankful praise, And young souls meekly striving To walk in holy ways: And these shall be our treasures We offer to the King, And these are gifts that even The youngest child may bring. 3 We'll come and show the Savior The things we do each day; We'll try our best to please Him At home, at school or play: And better are these treasures To offer to our King, Than richest gifts without them: Yet these a child may bring. As Saints of Old Their Firstfruits Brought

Author: Frank von Christierson Hymnal: Catholic Book of Worship III #502 (1994) Lyrics: 1 As saints of old their first-fruits brought Of orchard, flock, and field To God, the giver of all good, The source of bounteous yield; So we today first-fruits would bring: The wealth of this good land, Of farm and market, shop and home, Of mind and heart and hand. 2 A world in need now summons us To labor, love, and give; To make our life an offering That others too may live. The Church of Christ is calling us To keep this end in view; A world redeemed, your kingdom come, All life in Christ made new. 3 In gratitude and humble trust We bring our best today, To serve your cause and share your love With all along life's way. O God, who gave yourself to us In Jesus Christ, your Son, Teach us to give ourselves each day Until life's work is done. We Sing the Almighty Power of God

Author: Isaac Watts, 1674-1748 Hymnal: Christian Worship #504 (2021) Meter: 8.6.8.6 D First Line: We sing th' almighty pow'r of God Lyrics: 1 We sing th'almighty pow'r of God that made the mountains rise, that spread the flowing seas abroad and built the lofty skies. We sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day; the moon shines full at his command, and all the stars obey. 2 We sing the goodness of the Lord that filled the earth with food; he formed the creatures with his Word and then pronounced them good. Lord, how your wonders are displayed where'er we turn our eyes, if we survey the ground we tread or gaze upon the skies. 3 There's not a plant or flow'r below but makes your glories known, and clouds arise and tempests blow by order from your throne; while all that borrows life from you is ever in your care, and ev'rywhere that we can be, you, God, are present there. Topics: Creation and Preservation Scripture: Genesis 1, 2 Languages: English Tune Title: FOREST GREEN

O little town of Bethlehem

Author: Phillips Brooks, 1835-1893 Hymnal: Complete Anglican Hymns Old and New #508a (2000) Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie! Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by. Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light; the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight. 2 O morning stars, together proclaim the holy birth, and praises sing to God the King, and peace to all the earth; For Christ is born of Mary; and, gathered all above, while mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wond'ring love. 3 How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is giv'n! So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of his heav'n. No ear may hear his coming; but in this world of sin, where meek souls will receive him, still the dear Christ enters in. 4 O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray; cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell: O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel. Topics: Christmas; Years A, B, and C Christmas Day Scripture: Job 38:7-11 Languages: English Tune Title: FOREST GREEN
