Wilt Thou not, my Shepherd true

Author: Frances Elizabeth Cox; John Scheffler Meter: 7.8.7 Appears in 5 hymnals Topics: Sundays in Lent; Lent, Fourth Sunday Lyrics: 1 Wilt Thou not, my Shepherd true, Spare Thy Sheep, in mercy spare me? Wilt Thou not, as shepherds do, In Thine arms rejoicing bear me, Bear me where all troubles cease, Home to folds of joy and peace? 2 See, on earth's wide desert way, How my truant steps mislead me; Bring me back, no more to stray, In Thine own green pastures feed me; Gather me within the fold, Where thy lambs Thy light behold. 3 With thy flock I long to be, With the flock to whom 'tis given, Safe to feed, and, praising Thee, Roam the happy plains of heaven: Free from fear of sinful stain, They can never stray again. 4 Lord, I here am sore beset, Fears at every step confound me; Lo! my foes have spread their net, And with craft and might surround me; Such their snares on every side, Safe Thy sheep can ne'er abide. 5 Jesus, Lord! my Shepherd true, O from wolves Thy sheep deliver; Help, as shepherds wont to do, From their jaws preserve me ever. Bid Thy trembling wanderer come To his everlasting home. Used With Tune: JESUS, MEINE ZUVERSICHT

Dr Djupsens Naud eg ropa maa

Author: Luther Appears in 1 hymnal Topics: Hymns for the Church Year Second Sunday in Lent; Second Sunday in Lent High Mass Lyrics: 1 Dr Djupsens Naud eg ropa maa, Aa Herre, du maa høyra! Mi Bon so mildt du merke paa Med Miskunns opne Øyra! For um du Synder agta vil Og Misgjerd leggja Merke til, Kven kann fry deg daa standa? 2 Aaleine Naade gjelda kann, Naar Synd du skal forlata. Mi Gjerning ikkje gjeld eit Grand Og kann meg inkje bata. Fyr deg er ingen funnen rein, So deg maa ottast kvar og ein Og taka Trøyst av Naaden. 3 So vil til Gud eg halda meg I all min Syndevaade. Mitt Hjarta hugheilt trøyster seg Til Herrens store Naade, Som er meg i hans Ord tilsagt, Det i all Æva stend ved Magt. Paa Naaden, Gud, eg ventar! 4 Og varer det fraa Morgonstund Og heilt til Aftans Ende, Eg trur daa trygt i Hjartans Grunn, Gud gjerer visst eit Vende. So gjer' Guds Folk av rette Slag, Som Anden gav sitt Ættarlag: Dei venta paa Guds Time.

My Crucified Saviour, Despised and Contemned

Author: Anders Carl Rutström, 1721-1772 Meter: 11.11.11.11 Appears in 11 hymnals Topics: Lent Lyrics: 1 My crucified Saviour, despised and contemned, Thou innocent Victim for sinners condemned, Thy garments are blood-stained Thy spirit doth groan, In agony prostrate, Thou sufferest alone. 2 Thou weepest and moanest in conflict and prayer, And writhest in agony, pain, and despair; In thirty years’ anguish our path Thou hast trod, And diest at last to redeem us to God. 3 For me Thou hast labored salvation to win, For me tasted death to atone for my sin; Neglected, forsaken, but mindful of me, Thou prayest for those who have crucified Thee. 4 Thou consecrate Victim, my Passover slain, The gall and the wormwood for me Thou dost drain. That I might be blessed Thou sufferest all woe, And diest at last on me life to bestow. 5 Our Saviour thus finished God’s plan with our race, And laid the foundation for pardon and grace. And then rose triumphant, the conquering Lord, Appeased the Creator and mankind restored. 6 Restored to the bliss that was lost in the fall, Yea, greater, for Jesus prepared for us all Eternal salvation and mansions above; Come, poor burdened sinners, rejoice in His love. 7 What is, then, to be reconciled unto God? It is that He silenced the curse by His blood; And what the relation to which we're restored? The right to be counted the friends of the Lord. 8 So come, trembling sinner, come just as thou art, Thy cares and Thy sorrows to Jesus impart; In Him seek salvation from death and the grave, For Jesus is willing and mighty to save. Amen. Used With Tune: MIN BLODIGE KONUNG
