b. 1957 Person Name: Gary Daigle, b. 1957 Scripture: Luke 7:6 Arranger (choral) of "[Behold the Lamb of God]" in Glory and Praise (3rd. ed.) Gary Daigle is director of music at St. Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Heights, IL. His first compositions for musical liturgy were collaborations with the Dameans on the collection Remember Your Love (1978). Gary continues to work with the Dameans as a composer, arranger, and producer. In 1993, he released Praise the Maker’s Love, his first collection under his own name. More recent collaborations have been with Rory Cooney. Gary has produced all of Rory's most recent collections and he has set a number of Rory's texts to music. He has also produced recordings by Donna Peña, John Foley, S.J., Jaime Cortez, Liam Lawton, and the GIA Choral Subscription Service recordings. Gary received his Bachelor of Music from Southeastern Louisiana University and has worked as a campus minister at the Catholic University of America. From 1985-1991, he was Director of Music Ministry at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. Gary has given workshops and shaped ritual for national and regional conferences throughout the United States such as The East Coast Conference for Religious Education, the Hofinger Conference, the Gathering, and The National Association of Pastoral Musicians. Gary is married to Maria and the father of three children, Erin, Paige, and Grant.

1813 - 1877 Person Name: J. H. Stockton Scripture: Luke 7:21 Arranger of "DER GROSSE ARZT" in Tsese-Ma'heone-Nemeotȯtse (Cheyenne Spiritual Songs) Stockton, John Hart, a Methodist minister, was born in 1813, and died in 1877. He was a member of the New Jersey Annual Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and the successive pastoral charges that he filled as a member of that Conference are found in the Conference Journal. He was not only a preacher, but a musician and composer of tunes, as well as hymn writer. He published two gospel song books: Salvation Melodies, 1874, and Precious Songs, 1875.

Stockton, John Hart, b. April 19, 1813, and d. March 25, 1877, was the author of "Come, every soul by sin oppressed" (Invitation), in I.D. Sankey's Sacred Songs and Solos, 1878, and of "The Cross, the Cross, the blood¬stained Cross" (Good Friday) in the same collection.

Stockton, John Hart. (New Hope, Pennsylvania, April 19, 1813--March 25, 1877). Born of Presbyterian parents, he was converted at a Methodist camp meeting in 1838, being received into full membership in the New Jersey Conference in 1857. Because of ill health he twice took the "supernumerary relations." He withdrew from actual pastoral work in 1874 and engaged in compiling and publishing gospel hymn books, issuing Salvation Melodies that year and Precious Songs in 1875, writing both words and music for a number of the songs. He died suddenly after attending a Sunday morning service at Arch Street Church, Philadelphia. Our Hymnody, McCutchan, has, perhaps, the fullest account of him readily available.
