Kathleen Thomerson

b. 1934 Scripture: Luke 1 Composer of "ARNOLDI" in A Taste of Heaven's Joys Kathleen Thomerson is Organist and Music Director at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas. She was born in Tennessee and grew up in Mississippi, California, and Texas. College music study was at the Universities of Colorado and Texas, the Flemish Royal Conservatory in Antwerp, and privately in Paris. Before retirement in Austin, she lived in Collinsville, Illinois, when her husband was a biology professor at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Her best-known hymn text is "I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light," set to her hymn tune HOUSTON. --www.morningstarmusic.com

Melchior Teschner

1584 - 1635 Scripture: Luke 1:46 Composer of "ST. THEODULPH" in Christian Science Hymnal (Rev. and enl.) Melchior Teschner (b. Fraustadt [now Wschowa, Poland], Silesia, 1584; d. Oberpritschen, near Fraustadt, 1635) studied philosophy, theology, and music at the University of Frankfurt an-der-Oder and later studied at the universities of Helmstedt and Wittenberg, Germany. From 1609 until 1614 he served as cantor in the Lutheran church in Fraustadt, and from 1614 until his death he was pastor of the church in Oberpritschen. Bert Polman

1948 - 2019 Person Name: Patrick Wedd (1948-) Scripture: Luke 1:39-57 Harmonizer of "PIED-DE-PORT" in Common Praise (1998) Patrick Wedd was an organist and choral conductor. He was born in Simcoe, Ontario. By the age of twelve he was organist and choir director in his church. He studied at the University of Toronto and U.B.C. He was music director at Vancouver's Christ Church Cathedral. In 1986 he moved to Montreal and served at Church os Saint Andrew and Saint Paul from 1986-1992, at the Church of St. John the Evangelist from 1992-1996, and at Christ Church Cathedral from 1996 to 2018. 1805 - 1885 Person Name: John D. Edwards Scripture: Luke 1:26-56 Composer of "RHOSYMEDRE" in The New Century Hymnal Welsh composer; bardic name Penrhiwceibr. John David Edwards (b. Penderlwyngoch, Cardiganshire, Wales, 1805; d. Llanddoget, Denbighshire, North Wales, 1885) was educated at Jesus College, Oxford, England, and ordained an Anglican priest in 1833. He served parishes in Rhosymedre and Llanddoget and published a collection of hymn tunes, Original Sacred Music (2 vols., 1836, 1843), for use in Anglican churches in Wales. Bert Polman

Born in Texas, with degrees from Baylor University (BA, 1954), and Southern Baptist Seminary (MSM, 1956), he served churches in Nashville, TN, and most recently at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas. He has served on national boards of the Presbyterian Association of Musicians and the Choristers Guild, and taught numerous workshops at various national conferences.
