Kees Boeke

1884 - 1966 Author of "As I in the early morning" Boeke, Kees. (1884-1966). Dutch nationality. Studied in England, married Beatrice (Betty) Cadbury. Active peace worker during World War I. Expelled from England for antiwar propaganda. Built Broederschaphuis (Brotherhood House), a conference hall, in 1918 in Bilthover, Holland. Co-founder in 1919 of Christian International, a peace movement. Often imprisoned, sometimes with his wife, for refusal to pay taxes that conflicted with his conscience. Both tried to give up all claim to their inherited wealth, finally gave it all away. Songs taken from Liederen en Geschriften (Bilthoven, 1918-1922, Sannerz & Leipzig, 1918-1922), translated into German by members of the Bruderhof in 1923. --Marlys Swinger, DNAH Archives

James Boeringer

1930 - 2014 Author of "O Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear" in Scripture Song Database Boeringer, James. (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, March 4, 1930- ). He was educated at the College of Wooster (B.A., 1952), Columbia University (M.A., 1954), and Union Theological Seminary (D.S.M., 1964). He taught at the University of South Dakota (1959-1962), Oklahoma Baptist University (1962-1964), and Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. A composer of choral and instrumental music, and an author of articles and reviews in music journals. --William J.
