seines großen Vaters sitzt
und die Schar von seinen Knechten
in dem Reich der Gnade schützt,
den auf dem erhabnen Throne
in der königlichen Krone
alles Heer der Ewigkeit
mit verhülltem Antlitz scheut!
2 Dein Geschäft auf dieser Erden
und dein Opfer ist vollbracht;
was vollendet sollte werden,
das vollführtest du mit Macht.
das ist gänzlich ausgemacht;
da du bist für uns gestorben,
ist uns Gnad und Heil erworben,
und dein siegreich Auferstehn
läßt uns in die Freiheit gehn.
3 Nun ist dieses dein Geschäfte
in dem obern Heiligtum,
die erworbnen Segenskräfte,
durch dein Evangelium,
allen denen mitzutheilen,
die zum Thron der Gnade eilen;
nun wird uns durch deine Hand
Heil und Segen zugewandt.
4 Deines Volkes werthe Namen

5 Doch vergißt du auch der Armen,
die der Welt gehorchen nicht,
weil dein Herz dir aus Erbarmen
über ihrem Elend bricht,
daß dein Vater ihrer schone,
daß er nicht nach Werken lohne,
daß er ändre ihren Sinn,
ach da zielt dein Bitten hin.
6 Zwar in deines Fleisches Tagen,
da die Sünden aller Welt
bit auf deinen Schultern lagen,
hast du dich vor Gott gestellt,
bald mit Seufzen, bald mit Weinen
für die Sünder zu erscheinen.
O mit welcher Niedrigkeit
batest du zur selben Zeit!
7 Aber nun wird deine Bitte
von der Allmacht unterstützt,
da in der vollkommen Hütte,
die verklärte Menschheit sitzt;
nun kannst du des Satans Klagen
majest¨tlich niederschlagen,
und nun macht dein redend Blut
unsre böse Sache gut.
8 Die Verdienste deiner Leiden
stellest du dem Vater dar
und machst liebreich und bescheiden
dein Verlangen offendar,
daß er wolle Kraft und Leben
deinem Volk auf Erden geben
und die Seelen zu dir ziehn,
die noch deine Freundschaft fliehn.
9 Großer Mittler, sei gepriesen
daß du in dem Heiligthum
so viel Treu an uns beweisen,
dir sei Ehre, Dank und Ruhm.
Laß uns dein Verdienst vertreten,
wenn wir zu dem Vater beten;
sprich für uns in letzter Noth,
wenn den Mund verschließt der Tod.
