The Will of God Is Always Best

Author: Albrecht von Preussen, 1490-1568 Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Appears in 7 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 84:12 Lyrics: 1 The will of God is always best And shall be done forever; And they who trust in Him are blest; He will forsake them never. He helps indeed In time of need; He chastens with forbearing, They who depend On God, their friend, Shall not be left despairing. 2 God is my comfort and my trust, My hope and life abiding; And to His counsel, wise and just, I yield, in Him confiding. The very hairs, His Word declares, Upon my head He numbers. By night and day God is my stay; He never sleeps nor slumbers. 3 Lord, this I ask, O hear my plea, Deny me not this favor: When Satan sorely troubles me, Then do not let me waver. O guard me well, My fear dispel, Fulfill Your faithful saying: All who believe By grace receive An answer to their praying. 4 When life's brief course on earth is run And I this world am leaving, Grant me to say, "Your will be done," Your faithful Word believing. My dearest Friend, I now commend My soul into Your keeping; From sin and hell, And death as well, By You the vict'ry reaping. Blest are the ones that sit on high

Author: Isaac Watts Meter: 8.8.8.8 Appears in 4 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 84 Lyrics: Blest are the ones that sit on high, around your throne of majesty; your brightest glories shine above, and all their work is praise and love. Blest are the ones that find a place within the temple of your grace; there they behold your gentle rays, and seek your face, and learn your praise. Blest are the ones whose hearts are set to find the way to heaven's gate; You are their strength; along the road they lean upon their helper, God. A Psalm for the Sons of Korah

Appears in 2 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 84 First Line: How amiable, Lord of hosts Lyrics: 1 How amiable, LORD of hosts, Thy tabernacles are! [Wherein the glories of thy face, with wondrous pow'r appear!] 2 My soul, within me longs, yea faints, JEHOVAH's courts to see; My heart and flesh cry out aloud, O living God for Thee! 3 The sparrow finds her self an house; the swallow builds her nest, Where she may lay and feed her young, and she and they may rest; Ev'n near thy holy altars, where they make their safe abode: And why not I - O LORD of hosts, my king, my only God! 4 But O how blessed then are they, who all their happy days, Dwell in thy house, and see Thee there! they will Thee ever praise 5 Yea, O how greatly bless'd are they whose strength and stay Thou art; Who to thy house do trace the way, with pleasure in their heart! 6 Who passing Baca's thirsty vale, they Thee their fountain make; And from the pools fill'd with thy rain, with cheerfulness they take. 7 So they go on from strength to strength and joyfully draw near, Till they before the God of GODS, In Zion all appear. [2 Part] 8 O Thou JEHOVAH, GOD of hosts, my humble pray'r now hear! Who of thy Jacob art the God, O give a bending ear! 9 O GOD, who art our only shield, look graciously on me, And with thy happy smiles the face of thy MESSIAH see. 10 For in thy courts one single day, 'tis better to attend, Than 'tis in any other place a thousand days to spend. In my God's house I rather would, ev'n at the threshold sit, Than dwell in grand pavillions with the wicked and the great. 11 Because the LORD GOD is a sun, He is a shield also: JEHOVAH on his people grace, and glory will bestow. From them who walk in uprightness, no good with-hold will He. 12 O LORD of hosts, the man is blest That puts his trust in Thee.
