The King of love my shepherd is

Author: Henry Williams Baker, 1821-1877 Hymnal: EH1982 #645 (1985) Meter: 8.7.8.7 Lyrics: 1 The King of love my shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never; I nothing lack if I am his, and he is mine for ever. 2 Where streams of living water flow, my ransomed soul he leadeth, and where the verdant pastures grow, with food celestial feedeth. 3 Perverse and foolish oft I strayed, but yet in love he sought me, and on his shoulder gently laid, and home, rejoicing, brought me. 4 In death's dark vale I fear no ill with thee, dear Lord, beside me; thy rod and staff my comfort still, thy cross before to guide me. 5 Thou spread'st a table in my sight; thy unction grace bestoweth; and oh, what transport of delight from thy pure chalice floweth! 6 And so through all the length of days thy goodness faileth never: Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house for ever. Topics: The Christian Life Scripture: Psalm 23 Languages: English Tune Title: ST. COLUMBA

I know not where the road will lead

Author: Evelyn Atwater Cummins, 1891-1971 Hymnal: EH1982 #647 (1985) Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 I know not where the road will lead I follow day by day, or where it ends: I only know I walk the King's highway. I know not if the way is long, and no one else can say; but rough or smooth, up hill or down, I walk the King's highway. 2 And some I love have reached the end, but some with me may stay, their faith and hope still guiding me: I walk the King's highway. The way is truth, the way is love, for light and strength I pray, and through the years of life, to God I walk the King's highway. 3 The countless hosts lead on before, I must not fear nor stray; with them, the pilgrims of the faith, I walk the King's highway. Through light and dark the road leads on till dawns the endless day, when I shall know why in this life I walk the King's highway. Topics: The Christian Life Languages: English Tune Title: LARAMIE

This is my Father's world

Author: Maltbie D. Babcock, 1858-1901; Mary Babcock Crawford, b. 1909 Hymnal: EH1982 #651 (1985) Meter: 6.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 This is my Father's world, and to my listening ears all nature sings and round me rings the music of the spheres. This is my Father's world: I rest me in the thought of rocks and trees, of skies and seas, his hands the wonders wrought. 2 This is our Father's world, oh, let us not forget that though the wrong is great and strong, God is our Father yet. He trusts us with his world, to keep it clean and fair, all earth and trees, all skies and seas, all creatures everywhere. Topics: The Christian Life Languages: English Tune Title: MERCER STREET

Dear Lord and Father of mankind

Author: John Greenleaf Whittier, 1807-1892 Hymnal: EH1982 #652 (1985) Meter: 8.6.8.8.6 Lyrics: 1 Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways! Reclothe us in our rightful mind, in purer lives thy service find, in deeper reverence, praise. 2 In simple trust like theirs who heard, beside the Syrian sea, the gracious calling of the Lord, let us, like them, without a word, rise up and follow thee. 3 O Sabbath rest by Galilee! O calm of hills above, where Jesus knelt to share with thee the silence of eternity interpreted by love! 4 Drop thy still dews of quietness, till all our strivings cease; take from our souls the strain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of thy peace. 5 Breathe through the heats of our desire thy coolness and thy balm; let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire, O still, small voice of calm.
