195. Lilies of the Valley

1 Lilies of the valley,
White as drifted snow,
With the summer’s beauty,
Now are bending low,
How their wondrous incense,
Ever seems to rise,
Like a glad thanksgiving,
To the summer skies.

Refrain:
Lilies of the valley,
Seem to softly say,
“There is One more lovely,
Fairer than the day,
We are sent as symbols,
Of the One above,
Who is pure and spotless,
And whose name is Love.

2 Lilies of the valley,
All in silence stand,
Yet they breathe a lesson,
In the summer land,
O they tell the story,
Old, yet always new,
Of the King of glory,
Ever pure and true. [Refrain]
