117. The Wedding Garment

1 The King has made a marriage,
A marriage for His Son,
And to the glorious banquet
He calleth ev’ry one;
And yet, though all are welcome
The precious feast to share,
Without a wedding garment
There’s none can enter there.

Refrain:
Have you this wedding garment fair,
Have you this wedding garment fair?
Without this garment, this spotless garment,
There’s none can enter there.

2 This royal entertainment
Admits of no delay;
Then make no vain excuses
To keep yourselves away;
To meet the Heav’nly Bridegroom,
Let ev’ry heart prepare,
His righteousness the garment
That none must fail to wear. [Refrain]

3 And when the Master cometh,
The bridal guest to see,
Among that vast assembly,
If any there should be
Without the spotless garment,
That none must fail to wear,
The door would close against them,
They could not enter there. [Refrain]
