Author of "Faithful people now rejoice" in Hymnal for American Youth In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

George B. Lissant

1823 - 1899 Person Name: G. B. Lissant Composer of "[Faithful people, now rejoice]" in Carols Old and Carols New Born: September 22, 1827. Died: September 14, 1899. Lissant was a chorister at the coronation of Britain’s Queen Victoria. In 1849, he became the first organist at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Calcutta, India.
