Nāşīf Yāzijī
1800 - 1871 Person Name: ناصيف اليازجي Transaltor of "من يسوع المعتمد" in ترانيم الإيمان Nasif al-Yaziji (March 25, 1800 – February 8, 1871) was a Lebanese author at the times of the Ottoman Empire and father of Ibrahim al-Yaziji. He was one of the leading figures in the Nahda movement. We was a poet, wrote and translated many hymns, and helped in translating the complete Bible into Arabic.
ناصيف بن عبد الله بن جنبلاط بن سعد اليازجي (25 مارس 1800 - 8 فبراير 1871)، أديب وشاعر لبناني ولد في قرية كفر شيما، من قرى الساحل اللبناني في 25 آذار سنة 1800 م في أسرة اليازجي التي نبغ كثير من أفرادها في الفكر والأدب، وأصله من حمص.
لعب دورا كبيرا في إعادة استخدام اللغة الفصحى بين العرب في القرن التاسع عشر، عمل لدى الأسرة الشهابية كاتبا وشارك في أول ترجمة الإنجيل والعهد القديم إلى العربية في العصر الحديث.

1841 - 1903 Person Name: جازف باري Composer of "[من يسوع المعتمد]" in ترانيم الإيمان Joseph Parry (b. Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales, 1841; d. Penarth, Glamorganshire, 1903) was born into a poor but musical family. Although he showed musical gifts at an early age, he was sent to work in the puddling furnaces of a steel mill at the age of nine. His family immigrated to a Welsh settlement in Danville, Pennsylvania in 1854, where Parry later started a music school. He traveled in the United States and in Wales, performing, studying, and composing music, and he won several Eisteddfodau (singing competition) prizes. Parry studied at the Royal Academy of Music and at Cambridge, where part of his tuition was paid by interested community people who were eager to encourage his talent. From 1873 to 1879 he was professor of music at the Welsh University College in Aberystwyth. After establishing private schools of music in Aberystwyth and in Swan sea, he was lecturer and professor of music at the University College of South Wales in Cardiff (1888-1903). Parry composed oratorios, cantatas, an opera, orchestral and chamber music, as well as some four hundred hymn tunes.

1798 - 1875 Person Name: سيمون ب. مارش Composer of "[من يسوع المعتمد]" in ترانيم الإيمان Simeon Butler Marsh USA 1798-1875. Born at Sherburne, NY, he was raised on a farm. A Presbyterian, he became a gifted organist and teacher. He sang in a choir at age seven and studied music at age 16. By age 19 he was teaching in the local singing schools in Geneva, NY, and had met hymnist, Thomas Hastings from Geneva, NY, who gave him much encouragement. He married Eliza Carrier, and they had a son, John, and a daughter, Jane. In 1837 he became publisher of the Amsterdam, NY, paper “Intelligencer” (later called ‘Recorder’), and ran it for seven years, even setting his own type. He moved back to Sherburne and founded the Sherburne News. He taught music to choirs and children for almost 30 years in and around the Albany Presbytery, and also served as a Sunday school superintendent for six years and a choir leader for three years. He set type for three juvenile books as well. For thirteen years he gave free music instruction to students in the Schenectedy area. In 1859 he returned to Sherburne and gave music instruction to large classes of men, women, and children. He wrote two cantatas: “The Savior” and “The king of the forest”. He wrote a number of hymns, but most have not survived over time. His wife died in 1873. He died at Albany, NY, and is buried in Schenectady, NY.
