Forth in Your Name, O Lord, I Go

Author: Charles Wesley Meter: 8.8.8.8 Appears in 352 hymnals Topics: Church Ministry and Ministers Lyrics: 1 Forth in your name, O Lord, I go my daily labor to pursue; you,Lord, alone I choose to know in all I think or speak or do. 2 The task your wisdom has assigned here let me cheerfully fulfill; in all my work your presence find and prove your good and perfect will. 3 You I would set at my right hand, whose eyes my inmost secrets view, and labor on at your command and offer all my work to you. 4 Help me to bear your easy yoke, and every moment watch and pray; and still to things eternal look and hasten to that glorious day. 5 Gladly for you may I employ all that your generous grace has given and run my earthly course with joy, and closely walk with you to heaven. Scripture: Psalm 139:1-4 Used With Tune: DANIEL Text Sources: Hymns for Today's Church, 1982, rev.

One Race, One Gospel, One Task

Author: Margaret Clarkson Meter: 14.14.4.7.8 Appears in 1 hymnal Topics: Church Ministry and Ministers First Line: One is the race of mankind under sin's condemnation Lyrics: 1 One is the race of mankind under sin's condemnation, one is the gospel that frees us from death's domination; one is our task--sin, death and hell to unmask, showing God's way of salvation. 2 One is the Word that can speak to our fallen condition: Jesus alone can redeem us and give sin's remission. His saving name we must forever proclaim: only in Christ is salvation. 3 One is the task that our Lord to his Church has committed; his is the Spirit by whom for his work we are fitted. No more our own, we serve the Master alone-- Jesus, who won our salvation! 4 One is the hope of eternal rejoicing before us; one is the song we shall share in God's heavenly chorus: till that glad day let us Christ's mandate obey-- tell the whole world of salvation. Scripture: Acts 1:8 Used With Tune: LOBE DEN HERREN

To thee, O GOD, we render Praise

Appears in 1 hymnal Topics: Description of Duty of the Ministers of God's Word Lyrics: 1 To thee, O GOD, we render Praise, To thee with daily Thanks repair; For that thy Name to us is nigh, Thy great and wond'rous Works declare. For thou, O LORD, art still the same, And very glorious is thy Name. 2 In Israel when my Throne is fix'd, With me shall Truth and Justice reign; The Land with Discord shakes, but I The falling Pillars will sustain. To Fools, I said, your Wrongs redress, To wicked Men, your Pride suppress. 3 For that Promotion which to gain, Your vain Ambition daily strives; From neither East, nor West, nor North, Nor yet from Southern Climes arrives. For GOD will cast the Haughty down, And lift the Humble to a Throne. 4 His Hand holds forth a dreadful Cup, With purple Wine full mix'd 'tis crown'd, The deadly Potion which his Wrath, Shall pour upon the Nations round, Its bitter Dregs shalt sinners squeeze, And drink up all the deadly Lees. 5 But I will talk of Jacob's GOD, And to the World his Pow'r relate; His Justice, Truth and Mercy too, My song shall ever celebrate; The Wicked shall before him fly, The Just shall be exalted high. Scripture: Psalm 75 Used With Tune: [To thee, O God, we render Praise]
