There's a wideness in God's mercy

Author: Frederick W. Faber Appears in 916 hymnals Topics: God Forbearance of Lyrics: 1 There's a wideness in God's mercy, Like the wideness of the sea; There's a kindness in His justice, Which is more than liberty. There is welcome for the sinner, And more graces for the good; There is mercy with the Saviour; There is healing in His blood. 2 There is no place where earth's sorrows Are more felt than up in heaven; There is no place where earth's failings Have such kindly judgment given. There is plentiful redemption In the blood that has been shed; There is joy for all the members In the sorrows of the Head. 3 For the love of God is broader Than the measure of man's mind; And the heart of the Eternal Is most wonderfully kind. If our love were but more simple, We should take Him at His word; And our lives would be all sunshine In the sweetness of our Lord. Amen. Used With Tune: ARMSTRONG

My God, how wonderful Thou art

Author: Dr. F. W. Faber, 1814-1863 Appears in 346 hymnals Topics: Forbearance of God; God Forbearance of Lyrics: 1. My God, how wonderful Thou art, Thy majesty how bright, How glorious Thy mercy-seat In depths of burning light! 2. How dread are Thine eternal years, O everlasting Lord, By prostrate spirits day and night Incessantly adored! 3. O how I fear Thee, living God, With deepest, tenderest fears, And worship Thee with trembling hope, And penitential tears! 4. Yet I may love Thee too, O Lord, Almighty as Thou art; For Thou hast stooped to ask of me The love of my poor heart. 5. No earthly father loves like Thee, No mother, e'er so mild, Bears and forbears, as Thou hast done With me, Thy wayward child. 6. Father of Jesus, love's reward, What rapture will it be, Prostrate before Thy throne to lie, And ever gaze on Thee! Used With Tune: WESTMINSTER
