And only as I trust to Thee,
The way to heaven I keep;
My sins a heavy burden are;
No peace, no rest I know;
Dear Lord, until Thy blessing comes,
How can I let Thee go?

Many of his verses were used to fill empty corners of the journal. He also wrote many books on gardening. Lawrence University (Appleton, Wisc.), Litt.D.
