Clarence E. Mason

1904 - 1985 Person Name: C. E. M., Jr. Author of "He Cannot Fail" in Inspiring Hymns Clarence E. Mason The song "He Cannot Fail" was written when Dr. C. E. Mason, Jr. was the pastor of Chelsea Baptist Church in Atlantic City, NJ and first published by Singspiration in 1941. During his years pastoring in Atlantic City, NJ, Dr. Mason started a conference called the Boardwalk Bible Conference. He brought in nationally known Bible teachers which drew the attention of his alma mater, Wheaton College. They recognized his contribution by honoring him with an Honorary Doctorate. That recognition launched him into the academic deanship of what was to become Philadelphia College of Bible. We often sang his chorus in chapels at PCB (now Cairn University). Along with his pastoral ministry in Atlantic City, "Clare" as his friends knew him, served as a chaplain to wounded soldiers from WW2 who were rehabilitated in hotels in Atlantic City. Dr. C. E. Mason, Jr. is also one of the editors of the New Scofield Reference Bible published by Oxford Press in 1967 as well as writer of several other books and booklets during his life of ministry. David Givens (son-in-law)
