No Wishful Glances

Author: A. F. I. Appears in 2 hymnals First Line: No wishful glances now I cast Refrain First Line: I’m over in the Promised Land Lyrics: 1 No wishful glances now I cast Tow’rd Canaan’s happy shore, For I have reached that land of rest, To wander never more. Refrain: I’m over in the Promised Land, And marching on with Joshua’s band; My life is hid with Christ in God, I’m sanctified, O praise the Lord! 2 Old Jordan’s waves now roll behind, The sky is clear above, And all along the way I find The joys of “perfect love.” [Refrain] 3 On ev’ry side sweet lilies nod, Inviting me to stay; The birds, the rills, all sing of God; O brother, come this way! [Refrain] 4 In Beulah’s vale rich fruits abound; And milk and honey flow; Within the soil rare gems are found, And costly spices grow. [Refrain] 5 When giants high above me tow’r, And boast of mighty strength, Faith grasps her “two-edged sword” of pow’r, And lays them out their length. [Refrain] 6 Here Jesus comes and whispers low His sweetest words of love, And bids me pray, and work, and grow, Till called to joys above. [Refrain] Scripture: Numbers 13:30 Used With Tune: [No wishful glances now I cast]
