Author: T. S. Hymnal: The Whole Booke of Psalmes #75a (1640) Hymnal Title: The Whole Booke of Psalmes First Line: In trouble and in thrall Lyrics: 1 In trouble and in thrall
Unto the Lord I call,
And he doth me comfort.
2 Deliver me, I say,
From lyars lips alway,
And tongues of false report.
3 What vantage or what thing
Get'st thou thus for to sting,
Thou false and flattering lyar?
4 Thy tongue doth hurt I ween,
No lesse than arrowes keen,
Or hot consuming fire.
5 Alas too long I slack
Within these tears so blac,
Which Kedars are by name.
By whom the flock elect,
And all of Isaaks sect,
Are put to open shame.
6 With them that peace do hate,
I came to peace to make
And set a quiet life.
7 But when my tale was told,
Causelesse I was controld
By them that would have strife. Scripture: Psalm 120 Languages: English
