We believe in God the Father

Author: Timothy Dudley-Smith, b. 1926 Hymnal: Common Praise #363 (2000) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 We believe in God the Father, God almighty, by whose plan earth and heaven sprang to being, all created things began. We believe in Christ the Saviour, Son of God in human frame, virgin-born, the child of Mary upon whom the Spirit came. 2 Christ, who on the cross forsaken, like a lamb to slaughter led, suffered under Pontius Pilate, he descended to the dead. We believe in Jesus risen, heaven's king to rule and reign, to the Father's side ascended till as judge he comes again. 3 We believe in God the Spirit; in one Church, below, above: saints of God in one communion, one in holiness and love. So by faith, our sins forgiven, Christ our Saviour, Lord and friend, we shall rise with him in glory to the life that knows no end. Who is this so weak and helpless

Author: W. Walsham How, 1823-97 Hymnal: The New English Hymnal #474 (1986) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 WHO is this so weak and helpless, Child of lowly Hebrew maid, Rudely in a stable sheltered, Coldly in a manger laid? 'Tis the Lord of all creation, Who this wondrous path hath trod; He is God from everlasting, And to everlasting God. 2 Who is this--a Man of Sorrows, Walking sadly life's hard way, Homeless, weary, sighing, weeping Over sin and Satan's sway? 'Tis our God, our glorious Saviour, Who above the starry sky Now for us a place prepareth Where no tear can dim the eye. 3 *Who is this--behold him raining Drops of blood upon the ground? Who is this--despised, rejected, Mocked, insulted, beaten, bound? 'Tis our God, who gifts and graces On his Church now poureth down; Who shall smite in holy vengeance All his foes beneath his throne. 4 Who is this that hangeth dying, With the thieves on either side? Nails his hands and feet are tearing, And the spear hath pierced his side. 'Tis the God who ever liveth 'Mid the shining ones on high, In the glorious golden city Reigning everlastingly. Spread his praise from shore to shore, how he loveth, ever loveth, changes never, nevermore; how he watches o'er his loved ones, died to call them all his own; how for them he intercedeth, watcheth o'er them from the throne. 3 O the deep, deep love of Jesus! Love of ev'ry love the best; 'tis an ocean vast of blessing, 'tis a haven sweet of rest. O the deep, deep love of Jesus! Round the Lord in glory seated

Author: Richard Mant Hymnal: Trinity Hymnal #42 (1961) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 Round the Lord in glory seated, Cherubim and seraphim Filled his temple, and repeated Each to each the alternate hymn: "Lord thy glory fills the heaven, Earth is with its fulness stored; Unto thee be glory given, Holy, holy, holy Lord!" 2 Heav'n is still with glory ringing, Earth takes up the angels' cry, "Holy, holy, holy," singing, "Lord of Hosts, the Lord most high." With his seraph train before him, With his holy church below, Thus conspire we to adore him, Bid we thus our anthem flow: 3 "Lord, thy glory fills the heaven, Earth is with its fulness stored; Unto thee be glory given, Holy, holy, holy Lord!" LORD, the God of My Salvation

Hymnal: Psalms and Hymns to the Living God #88 (2023) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 LORD, the God of my salvation, day and night I cry to Thee; let my prayer now find acceptance, in Thy mercy answer me. Full of troubles and affliction, nigh to death my soul is brought helpless, like one cast forever from Thy care and from Thy thought. 2 Thou hast brought me down to darkness, 'neath Thy wrath I am oppressed; all the billows of affliction overwhelm my soul distressed. Thou hast made my friends despise me, and companionless I go, bound, and helpless in my bondage, pining in my bitter woe. 3 Unto Thee with hands uplifted daily I direct my cry; hear, O LORD, my supplication, hear and save me ere I die. Wilt Thou wait to show Thy wonders and Thy mercy to the dead? Let me live to tell Thy praises, by Thy lovingkindness led. God Hath Spoken by the Prophets

Author: George W. Briggs Hymnal: The United Methodist Hymnal #108 (1989) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 God hath spoken by the prophets, spoken the unchanging Word, each from age to age proclaiming, God the One, the righteous Lord! 'Mid the world's despair and turmoil, one firm anchor holdeth fast: God eternal reigns forever, God the first, and God the last. 2 God hath spoken by Christ Jesus, Christ, the everlasting Son; brightness of the Father's glory, with the Father ever one; spoken by the Word incarnate, God of God, ere time was born; Light of Light, to earth descending, Christ, as God in human form. 3 God yet speaketh by the Spirit, speaketh to our hearts again; in the agelong Word expounding God's own message, now as then. Thru the rise and fall of nations, one sure faith yet standing fast, God abides, the Word unchanging, God the first, and God the last. God the first, and God the last. Once to Every Soul and Nation

Author: James Russell Lowell, 1819-1891 Hymnal: Singing the Living Tradition #119 (1993) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 Once to every man and nation comes the moment to decide, in the strife of truth with falsehood, for the good or evil side: then to side with truth is noble, When we share her wretched crust; ere that cause bring fame and profit, and 'tis prosperous to be just. 2 Though the cause of evil prosper, yet 'tis truth alone is strong; though its portion be the scaffold, and upon the throne be wrong. Then it is the brave one chooses, while the coward stands aside, till the multitude make virtue of the faith they have denied. LORD, Thy Word to Me Remember

Hymnal: Psalms and Hymns to the Living God #119G (2023) Meter: 8.7.8.7 Lyrics: 1 LORD, Thy word to me remember, Thou hast made me hope in Thee; this my comfort in affliction that Thy Word hath quickened me. Mocked by those who are unrighteous, still to Thy commands I cleave; thinking on Thy former judgments, help and comfort I receive. 2 Wicked men Thy law forsaking, stirred my indignation strong; for in all my pilgrim journey Thy commandments are my song. Thou hast been my meditation and Thy law hath been my guide; I have kept Thy righteous precepts, and have found them true and tried. Come, O Spirit, Dwell Among Us

Author: Janie Alford Hymnal: The Presbyterian Hymnal #129 (1990) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 Come, O Spirit, dwell among us, Come with Pentecostal power; Give the church a stronger vision, Help us face each crucial hour. Built upon a firm foundation, Jesus Christ, the Cornerstone, Still the church is called to mission That God's love shall be made known. 2 We would raise our alleluias For the grace of yester-years; For tomorrow's unknown pathway, Hear, O Lord, our humble prayers. In the church's pilgrim journey You have led us all the way, Still in presence move before us, Fire by night and cloud by day. 3 Come, O Spirit, dwell among us; Give us words of fire and flame. Help our feeble lips to praise You, Glorify Your holy name. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Three in one: what mystery! We would sing our loud hosannas Now and through eternity. Topics: Resurrección Scripture: John 20:1-18 Languages: Spanish Tune Title: EBENEZER
