I Sing the Almighty Power of God

Author: Isaac Watts, 1674-1748 Hymnal: Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs #8 (2018) Meter: 8.6.8.6 D First Line: I sing the Almighty pow'r of God Lyrics: 1. I sing the Almighty pow'r of God, That made the mountains rise, That spread the flowing seas abroad, And built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained The sun to rule the day; The moon shines full at his command, And all the stars obey. 2. I sing the goodness of the Lord, That filled the earth with food: Who formed the creatures with His Word, And then pronounced them good. Lord, how thy wonders are displayed, Where’er I turn my eye, If I survey the ground I tread, Or gaze upon the sky. 3. There’s not a plant or flow'r below, But makes thy glories known; And clouds arise, and tempests blow, By order from Thy throne. Creatures (as num'rous as they be) Are subject to thy care; There’s not a place where we can flee, But God is present there. 4.In heav'n he shines with beams of love, With wrath in hell beneath: ’Tis on his earth I stand or move, And ’tis his air I breathe. His hand is my perpetual guard, He keeps me with His eye: Why should I then forget the Lord, Who is for ever nigh? Topics: Praise Unto God; An Hymn Tune Title: ELLACOMBE

O Day of Rest and Gladness

Author: Christopher Wordsworth Hymnal: The Lutheran Hymnal #9 (1941) Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Lyrics: 1 O day of rest and gladness, O day of joy and light, O balm of cure and sadness, Most beautiful, most bright, On thee the high and lowly Before th'eternal throne Sing "Holy, holy, holy," To the great Three in One. 2 On thee at the Creation The light first had its birth; On thee for our salvation Christ rose from depths of earth; On thee our Lord victorious The Spirit sent from heav'n, And thus, on thee, most glorious, A three-fold light was giv'n. 3. Thou art a cooling fountain In life's dry, dreary sand; From thee, like Nebo's mountain, We view our Promised Land; A day of sweet reflection, A day of holy love, A day of resurrection From earth to things above. 4 Today on weary nations The heavenly manna falls; To holy convocations The silver trumpet calls, Where Gospel-light is glowing With pure and radiant beams And living water flowing With soul-refreshing streams. 5 New graces ever gaining From this our day of rest, We reach the rest remaining To spirits of the blest. To Holy Ghost be praises, To Father, and to Son; The Church her voice upraises To Thee, blest Three in One. Amen. Topics: Adoration Lord's Day Scripture: Psalm 118:24 Tune Title: ELLACOMBE

When Mary Poured a Rich Perfume

Author: Carolyn Winfrey Gillette Hymnal: Songs of Grace #25a (2009) Meter: 7.6.7.6 D First Line: When Mary poured a rich perfume ;on Jesus' weary feet Lyrics: When Mary poured a rich perfume on Jesus’ weary feet, Her caring filled that humble room; the fragrance there was sweet. But full of anger, Judas said, “We could have used this more! Why was her gift not sold instead, and given to the poor?” The Lord replied, “Leave her alone! She bought it for this day. This caring love that she has shown is faithful to God’s way. The poor will always be with you, but you will not have me.” He blessed her and he thanked her, too, for giving lavishly. O Christ, what can your people bring to show you thanks and love? You need no fragrant offering; for now you reign above. Since there will never cease to be the poor throughout the land, May we, your church, serve faithfully by offering them our hand. 歌頌父神偉大權能, (I sing the mighty power of God)

Languages: Chinese Tune Title: ELLACOMBE
