O worship the King all-glorious above

Author: Robert Grant, 1779-1838 Hymnal: Together in Song #133 (1999) Meter: 5.5.5.5.6.5.6.5 Scripture: Psalm 103:1-9 Lyrics: 1 O worship the King all-glorious above, O gratefully sing his power and his love: our shield and defender, the ancient of days, pavilioned in splendour, and girded with praise. 2 O tell of his might, O sing of his grace, whose robe is the light, whose canopy space; his chariots of wrath the deep thunder-clouds form, and dark is his path on the wings of the storm. 3 The earth with its store of wonders untold, Almighty, your power has founded of old, established it fast by a changeless decree, and round it has cast, like a mantle, the sea. 4 Your bountiful care what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light, it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, and sweetly distils in the dew and the rain. 5 Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in you do we trust, nor find you to fail: your mercies how tender, how firm to the end, Our maker, defender, redeemer and friend. 6 O measureless might, ineffable love. While angels delight to hymn you above, the humbler creation, though faltering their praise, With true adoration shall sing all their days. When all thy mercies, O my God

Author: Addison Hymnal: The Voice of Praise #348 (1873) Scripture: Psalm 103 Lyrics: 1 When all thy mercies, O my God, My rising soul surveys, Transported with the view, I'm lost In wonder, love, and praise. Unnumbered comforts on my soul Thy tender care bestowed, Before my infant heart conceived From whom those comforts flowed. 2 When in the slippery paths of youth With heedless steps I ran, Thine arm, unseen, conveyed me safe, And led me up to man. Ten thousand thousand precious gifts My daily thanks employ; Nor is the least a cheerful heart, That tastes those gifts with joy. 3 Through every period of my life, Thy goodness I'll pursue; And after death, in distant worlds, The glorious theme renew. Through all eternity, to thee A joyful song I'll raise: But oh, eternity's too short To utter all thy praise! Topics: General Praise; Gratitude

There's a Wideness in God's Mercy

Author: Frederick W. Faber Hymnal: Baptist Hymnal 1991 #25 (1991) Meter: 8.7.8.7 Scripture: Psalm 103:12 Lyrics: 1. There's a wideness in God's mercy, Like the wideness of the sea; There's a kindness in His justice, Which is more than liberty. 2. There's a welcome for the sinner, And more graces for the good; There is mercy with the Savior; There is healing in His blood. 3. But we make His love too narrow By false limits of our own; And we magnify His strictness With a zeal He will not own. 4. For the love of God is broader Than the measure of one's mind; And the heart of the Eternal Is most wonderfully kind. 5. If our love were but more simple, We could take Him at His word; And our lives would be more loving In the likeness of our Lord. Languages: English Tune Title: WELLESLEY
